What is SAW Pipes?
Submerged Arc Weld Pipes shortly SAW Pipes. the term is used to refer to large diameter welded pipes. SAW pipes mean welded pipe that has two categories i.e. L SAW which means Longitudinal Weld and S SAW means, Spiral Weld. These are simply the contrary of seamless pipes with weld patterns in spiral and longitudes. A welded pipe is manufactured by welding together strips of steel as a pipe. The strips are usually welded vertical patterns or spiral patterns. The strength of the SAW Pipe depends on the quality of the welding done. Better the welding better the strength of the pipe. However, the SAW Pipes are much larger than the ordinary pipe.
What is Carbon Steel?
Carbon steel is an iron and carbon alloy. The presence of carbon in the alloy makes it much more durable. Carbon steel has a good black appearance and it is the strength of the pipe that makes it more favorable. The carbon steel pipes have three further types low carbon, medium carbon, and high carbon. These types of carbon steel are used accordingly. High carbon steel is stronger than any other metal and relatively difficult for forging. The mechanical property of carbon steel is as follows, the Ultimate Tensile Strength is 92100 psi & 635MPa, the yielding strength is 71100 psi & 490 MPa. The chemical property here is Iron is the most in Carbon Steel at 98.8%, Carbon at 0.70%, and some other metals playing their part.
Applications of Carbon Steel SAW Pipes
The Carbon Steel SAW Pipe is excellent as it is made of a stronger alloy and course the welding will be done perfectly. The SAW Pipes made up of CS is a good choice as it is durable in nature and strength. The Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe is used to a great extent in many industries like Oil and Gas Industry, Hydrocarbon & Process Industry, mechanical, structural, and General Engineering applications, Hydraulics, refineries, petrochemicals, offshore and onshore drilling, and so on. CS Pipes is used for the transportation of Solids, Liquids, and Gases and can be resistant to high temperature and pressure. All these above-mentioned industries make use of Carbon Steel forged in all types of products like Tubes, Sheets, Plates, Rods, Bars, Pipe Fittings, Forged Fittings, etc.
The steel is also manufactured in all the standards and is certified by ASTM, ASME, etc. the carbon steel is not suitable for food and beverage industries as they are less resistant to corrosion which might react with the edibles and contaminate it. However, the massive pipelines to supply water in cities are mainly made up of Carbon Steel SAW Pipes. it is the attribute of carbon that CS steel is very much used in industries and cities for smooth performance be it commercial or industrial. Some major industries that regularly use stainless steel pipes are Textile Machinery, Chemicals, Fertilizers, Power Plants, Pesticides, Construction, Modern Architecture, Pharmaceuticals, Sugar, Oil, and Gas Processing, Water treatment facilities, Desalination, Synthetic Fibber’s, Pulp and Paper, Ship Building, Refinery, Petrochemicals, Energy industries, etc.
