Overview on Types of Stainless Steel Flanges

Must read

What are Flanges?

The flange is an instrument that falls under the category of pipe fittings. Flanges resemble a ring with a bore in the middle and holes all around it for bolting. A flange is usually attached in one of two ways: by bolting it together or by welding it together. If bolted it gets easy to assemble or disassemble the flange and welding is however permanent joint, once welded it cannot be undone.

Welding a flange is a good option because it prevents the substance from leaking. The flange comes in all sizes right from small to large.

Stainless Steel Flange

A flange made up of Stainless Steel is very strong in nature because it is metal with superior features. Stainless Steel possesses abilities that other metals do not. It is stronger and can bear much more pressure, is very resistant to corrosion in every circumstance, it is also a very durable metal. The SS flange is durable in nature. The SS flange is optimum for use because it stays on very strong avoiding any damage and lasts longer. SS flange can endure more pressure and survive all types of work.

Types of Flanges

Welding-neck Flange- this flange is very commonly used. A welding neck flange has a protruded center with a bore in between and holes around. It is usually welded around the pipe for getting a stronger union. The diameter of the bore would be the same as the pipe.

Threaded Flange- the flange that is very easy to attach is a threaded flange. As the name suggests this flange has threads inside the bore so there is absolutely no need for welding. This type of flange is mostly used for its easy application on the pipe or valve.

Slip-on Flange- A Slip-on Flange is basically a ring that is put over the pipe end. The little raised center is welded to the pipe. Slip-on Flange has a lower fabric taken a toll than weld neck spine and is more effortlessly aligned. This SS 304 slip-on flange is available in small and large sizes.

Lap Joint Flange- The Lap Joint Flange is a two-part flange with a simple ring flange and then a stub end. The stub end goes through the flange and is welded into the pipe, so as to the ring flange can be rotated as needed.

Blind Flange- A Blind Flange is a solid circle with little holes on the brink to bolt it. This flange is generally used to seal or block off the pipe end. It is either bolted or welded on the pipe.

Socket Weld Flange- Similar to a slip-on the Socket Weld Flange is widely used. The difference is that the pipe is inserted into the socket and then it is welded. The socket weld flange is used for high-pressure application.

Long Neck Flange- A lot similar to a welding neck flange. The bore of a long neck flange is elongated at a certain length but longer than the welding neck flange. The elongated bore is welded to the pipe.
