Applications and Benefits Carbon Steel Forged Fittings

Must read

What is Carbon Steel

The alloy Carbon Steel is comprised of 2.1% carbon which is a major quantity of carbon in any alloy. The carbon content in Carbon Steel differs on three levels i.e. low carbon, medium carbon, and high carbon. Now, these types vary based on carbon content. Low carbon with less carbon and vice versa. Carbon steel is quite easy to identify due to its black color or sometimes dark grey color. Carbon steels frequently contain manganese, even though there is no minimum content of other alloying elements. The manganese content is 1.65%, the silicon content is 0.66%, and the copper content is 0.66%. Carbon steel has the following mechanical properties: ultimate tensile strength of 92100 psi and 635 MPa, yielding strength of 71100 psi and 490 MPa.

Carbon Steel Forged Fittings

Forged Fittings are simply Pipe Fittings that are forged for manufacturing. Usually forged of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Nickel Alloy. The Forged Fittings are often heavier and larger and of course stronger. Due to all these properties, forged fittings are mostly used for heavy industrial work. The forged fittings are found in all sizes and some industries provide the option of customizing the size. Sizes range from 50mm to 500mm, the shapes or the types of pipe fittings are a lot like Tee, Cross, Elbow, 90° Elbow, 45° Elbow, Union, Reducer, Forged Fittings, Threaded Fittings, Socket- Weld Fittings, Flanges, etc. Carbon Steel A105 Forged Fittings is the most popular grade of Carbon Steel Forged Fittings

Carbon Steel Forged Fittings have been really strong and resistant to many circumstances. The forged fittings of this alloy are forged in 4 different ways i.e. Mandrel Method, Extrusion Method, UO Method, and Hot Framing Method. The forged fittings are identified based on their pressure ratings that are 2000#, 3000#, 6000#, and 9000#. The grades are F42, F46, F52, F56, F60, F65, F70. The other types of pipe fittings aside from forged fittings are Socket Weld Fittings and Threaded Fittings. The Tensile Strength of CS FF is 63800 psi and 440 MPa, Yielding Strength is 53700 psi, and 370 MPa with elongation set at 15%. Testing of mechanical properties, such as Tensile of Area, Hardness Test, Chemical Analysis – Spectro Analysis, Positive Material Identification, Flattening, Micro and Macro Tests, Pitting Resistance, Flaring, Intergranular Corrosion (IGC) Test, Flattening, Micro and Macro Tests, Pitting Resistance, Flaring, Intergranular Corrosion (IGC) Test, Internal Corrosion (IGC) Test.

Applications of CS Forged Fittings

The carbon steel forged fittings show the stronger ability and resistance to many harsh conditions so it is an optimum alloy to be used in a wide number of industries. Off-shore oil drilling companies use these fittings because of strength, as they stay consistent in terms of performance and are durable. Power generation is a harsh process and these fittings tend to withstand the process so they are used often in power generations plants and various other plants. The Petrochemical industries use carbon steel fittings because these fittings stay intact for a long time once attached. Specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical equipment, chemical equipment, seawater equipment, heat exchangers, condensers, pulp, paper industry, and so on. these industries rely on carbon steel forged fittings because of their strength, immunity, resistance, bearing high temperature, and many properties.
